    • Modern hardware + a modern operating system + a modern simulation = Great enjoyment!
    • I can happily report that the new rig 'flies' MSFS2020 with ease at almost all Ultra settings. So...yay!
    • I started with a Pico4 and although it was okay I invested in a set of prescription inserts which made it far better. You can get inserts for a range of VR headsets. However now I've upgraded to a Pimax Crystal Light and have no problem whatsoever wearing glasses (my optician supplied me with a pair with a slightly adjusted prescription to suit computer work). I did buy a set of inserts for th Pimax but found my glasses were actually performing better!
    • Fantastic pictures Alan. If only MSFS2020 had kept 2D panels and the spotter window available at the same time, I might of stuck with it. The landscape is great. JGF's green Bonanza would have looked great with the MSFS backdrop. It was still a looker in his FS9 scenery anyway, and maverick's Miles Messenger captures that golden age feel, relaxed elegance and style, it captured Basil's hard to please requirements enough for him to steal it :-)) for a short hop to Lyon under dubious pretences. And what about Bossspecop's Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer? From the same age as the Miles and when Scotland still had an aviation industry. Am looking forward to see it in Courchevel. Waiting for Taoftedal and his C185, a well proven bush plane in North America, why should it not do well in the Alps? And if MAD1 completes the adventure in his Cessna 152 it will show us all up with our more powerful craft (except maybe the Miles). Maybe Phrogphlyer will join in one of his helicopters and show us why helicopters are King for mountain rescue.
    • new rig will work fine, your current PC is fine as well. Make sure you have a 2 TB hard drive or bigger. When I get my next one I'll have 2 2tb hd and 64gb ram with the 4080 super @ 24gb ram . I can't decide between the intel and amd processor yet. Will have to see when Im ready to get FS24. AD
    • I had ( still have) a 1650TI. Not the same but close. FS9 as well. Any card I had I'd bump up the MSAA, SGAA etc as high as I could. A battle between softeness and AA issues up close or in the distance. Good close, not as good in distance. Good in distance, not as good up close in cockpit, on aircraft, runway lines etc.    But in certain instances...in cloud mostly when it would get used more... I could get any card up to 100% usage. FPS would come down but messing around to keep it below 100% was the goal. 70-90 etc. But other times outside of cloud  it would drop. But if I got some smooth lines, sharpness here and there, then turning it up through using NI using various settings made it look good. Real good.
    • ... and from the same developers :   OMAA
    • Much Better than the Original (Handcrafted) Of course to enjoy a larger image [CLICK THE PIC] Hopefully, you enjoyed these images, your commentary is always appreciated...Darryl
    • Thank you Tim I'll give that a try.    Best wishes.    Khalid
    • In nVidia Control Panel, click on the Help menu and select System Information. Your current DirectX runtime version is shown there:
    • Nope, what appears in the Programs and Features is the version number of the Visual C++ Redistributable runtime libraries themselves. Those version numbers correspond to the version of Visual Studio they originated with (see the chart below), hence why there is a version 14 (again, there is no DX14 currently). They have nothing to do with the DX version.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Visual_C%2B%2B?useskin=vector#Internal_version_numbering
    • are you sure that FS2004 is included in the download ? I dont have the v1 version
    • We're off on another adventure, a shorter one this time.  I looked through my hangar for a suitable aircraft and considered the Beech-18 but it's a floater on landing, the basic Cessna Skyhawk with good GPS but chose a Beaver for it's rugged mountain flying reputation and short field capability.  I test-flew it and it had good rudder control and I chose one with a European registration.     We departed Chabeuil LFLU and pulled back the prop & throttle as recommended for radial engines and noticed we were only climbing at 500 fpm, not good enough.  the nearby hills were only 3,000' but later in the flight we were up & down to 9,000 so I started using full power.    Over Grenoble, descending for La Versud LFLG     We turned left and passed a dramatic mountain ridge      Base leg for 04L at LFLG     I overwrote the photo of the final approach and also edited out  a few.  I took 24 shots.  I'm a photo-holic!  I fueled to 70% at La Versud and continued on, climbing at 1000 fpm.  Descending into the valley for St Remy LFKR     Final approach to 34.  I'm too fast but saved it during the flare when the speed dropped.      Landed ok     Turned right around and departed for Courcheval, everybody's nemesis.      This is like a PGA Golf Course with it's clever use of mountains to create a fun approach.  Here's the first final     And the second final     The landing was sloppy, big bounce and zig zag but I stopped before the end and took a minute to appreciate that I had cheated death and defied gravity.   The takeoff was also successful.  I noticed as I was climbing away, I was also descending at 1000 fpm!     Next was LFKD and I turned into a narrow valley, then had to hold altitude until it got a little wider.      LFKD ahead     Final for rwy 01   Landing   As we followed the river, around a mountain, we passed a lake, Lac du Mont-Cenis.  We admired the reflections.      It started getting hazy so I headed straight for LIMA and crossed the field slightly below pattern altitude.      Parked and looking back at the mountains we crossed and the things we saw.  All in an hour and 46 minutes.  44% fuel.  That was a great trip.  Thanks to ScottishMike for coming up with this idea!
