How To...Make VFR Easier
By Ross Taylor
When Wilco's 767 Pilot In Command came out, I was pleased to see that at least one panel had the realism of seeing out of the cockpit when landing. That was in FS2000, and none of the default panels had that setting. Waiting for FS2002, now with 'virtual cockpits' nothing changed. So, using PIC767's panel as a guide to help me get the problem fixed. You don't need PIC767 to do this, as all the information is contained in this how to article.
Firstly, open up the aircraft panel's .cfg you want to change. For example, let's do the Boeing 737. Once you open it up, it will look like this:
Add the following to the bit in red in the above image:
[VIEWS] view_forward_WINDOWS=0 VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=3.5, 0.0, 0.0 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_WINDOWS=31 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_DIR=1.0, 0.0, 45.0 VIEW_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32 VIEW_RIGHT_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 90.0 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_WINDOWS=33 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_ZOOM=1.3 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 135.0 VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=36 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=35 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 225.0 VIEW_LEFT_WINDOWS=30 VIEW_LEFT_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 270.0 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_WINDOWS=34 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 315.0
It should look like the image below:
Do this to all the panels in FS2002 to make landings easier and VFR more fun.
Happy Flying
